Here are some ways to incorporate mathematics into life outside of the classroom! There are a number (pun intended) of ways to reinforce arithmetic skills, critical thinking, and the beauty of mathematics at home. Keep in mind that if your child is particularly discouraged by mathematics, engaging in these activities together will be extremely encouraging and motivating!
The next time you're in New York City, stop by the Museum of Mathematics! The museum features exhibits for all ages and hosts great programs and events.

This is a great game to play with your 3rd - 7th graders. It's a great way to practice "times tables" and increase mental math ability. You can play while riding in the car or waiting at the dinner table. For an example of how it is played, check out the video!
Check out this introductory video to logic puzzles. These mental exercises contribute to critical thinking skills and logical reasoning, both useful for learning mathematics.
